Tonight, my club ran at the local drag strip and it was too fun. I really enjoyed it. If you have never seen a ZX12R run down the strip you do not know what you are missing. There were 10 of us running and I had the smallest bike as usual. First time ever on the strip and my reaction time was a 1.3 and a 13.8 @ 101 mph, it happens so fast....
I finished the night after 10 runs with a best of .74 and 12.7 and 103 mph.
I started out leaving the line at idle and finished the night leaving @ 9000 rpm's and spinning all the way into 2nd gear.
You guys & gals should try it sometime, it's a blast

I dont think ive ever seen a non wheelie-barred bike spin off the line at the track, that usually means wheelie from hell. Track gets pretty sticky! Either way good to know you had fun, (but you could get a better ET with zero spin) hehe

havnt run my new bike, but the old 600R ran a best of 12.57 @ 107mph at Firebird Int'l Raceway back in 1994. I really am curious what my new bike would do!

I didn't do any burnouts and I even tried to lineup in the stickiest part of the lane. The starting line is very sticky, like stepping on chewing gum  All of us were spinning the tire in 1st gear. The 1000+ cc bikes were doing wheelies. I still cannot get over the ZX12 and the sound it makes from that huge intake....

Holy Smackers batman!! That's damn good for my 'ol Bitch! :D

It's suprising that this bike is so quick , seeing as it's so heavy and underpowered...

I feel cool. My 95 ZX6R ran a 12.3 at 118 mph (with bad reaction time)(88 rwhp). Excellent. My worse was 12.8. Everytime I launched I either spun all the way through first gear or did a wheelie. Spinning sucks. It's scary when your rear end is sliding sideways. It was cool too. I only lost 2 runs. Both times against a GSXR 750. The rest of the time I was smoking Harley's. I even outran a Screaming Eagle that "was all gone through." Right. I beat him by 1.3 seconds. Excellent.

Hello all! I just did the drag racing thing as well here in Baytown! It was my first time to see the races, and it was way fun. I planned on running my F2, but they had a special race day with a $5,000 pot and there were a lot of bad cages out there! So, I just watched...but there were 5 bikes out also, 2 Busa's, 2 ZX12's, one Bandit 1200, and one GSXR1100...ok, that's 6...them Busa's and 12's are fast! The 1100 was too. The fastest was one of the Busa's which turned in a high 9 second, but it really comes down to the rider and his/her launching ability. It was fun. Hope to get my bike out there soon! Oh, there was one mean s-10 hyper truck there that pulled a 7 second quarter!!! WOW!

Thomas,

You have got to get out there on the track. It's a blast.
Did you like the sound of the 12R's going by?
Next Friday is the bike shoot out. Looking forward to to running again :)

Hey all! I went back to the strip in Baytown and my F2 was ready to ramble! I only ran 3 times, but it was a blast! My first run was against a ZX7 Ninja. I got beat off the line since it was my very first attempt. I ran a 12.419 @ 115.19 for my drag debut...not bad, but could easily do better. My reaction time was .521, but I spun through first gear and got sideways, so I had no way of winning. The Ninja ran a 11.664 @ 117.69. I expected to get stomped, but he wasn't leaving me at all, I just couldn't gain. I didn't do a burn out the first time (mistake) thinking the d207's would hook up. Nope. So the second time I smoked it up some and tried again. Launched at 6000rpm and pulled a wheelie....damn! When it came down, I was over in the lane in some slick crap and spun all of first and second gear leading to a 12.555 @ 112.78mph.
Ok, next run would be better I told myself...
I'd get the clutch slippage right, keep the front wheel down, and run better than 12.0....Got a good start the third time with a minor front wheel hop and I was off. Doing good until right at the end when the blammed thing popped out of gear! Dammmm!!!
I got it back in quick, but still it cut my time some. Ran a 12.046 @ 111.44-not bad.
Reaction time was .534 :D :D
I know that if it hadn't have jumped out of gear, it would have been 11's at a higher mph. Oh well, it was a blast. Oh, I was the smallest bike there, with the exception of a few 6R's, modified of course. Too bad I didn't have a Kat to smoke!! :D :D :D :D
If anybody can make it to Baytown, let me
know and maybe I'll see you there!

I was going to go again last Friday, but the cold weather and rain were reasons that I stayed home. But, I will be back to run again :) Looks like I will have to stay away from 600F2's

You two need to find a better track with more rubber on the staging area.

Are you running in the middle of the lane or something?

Try to line up in the tire tracks. If there is a good amount of rubber on the track you shouldnt have that tire spinning problem.

(Btw, its "rumble", not "ramble" :D )
