Wow, I was really surprised to see that Dean's the leading man for the DNC chairmanship. CNN and NYTimes are covering it.

They must be serious about a shift in political stance. I certainly hope its toward the middle.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't Dean lose the Democratic nomination partly because he wasn't enough towards the middle (too far left)? I honestly don't know, but thought I'd heard/read that somewhere.

A big part of his defeat was his outburst on the campaign trail that was chalked up to frustration. Additionally, he denounced the War in Iraq, which went against every Dem in office, so that certainly didn't help his position.

Not that I know their leaning, but Center for Public Integrity has an interesting writeup that shows him siding with either side of the aisle.
