Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody has put a Slip-on on their bike that was meant for another type of bike and if it would be a real pain in the ass to do.
This is my situation:
I have an 88 FZR1000 all stock. I want to get an aftermarket can for looks and sound. I'm not worried about power cause the bike already has plenty for now. The problem I am finding is that not too many of the good exhaust companies; hindle, yosh, etc. sell an exhaust slip-on or even a full system specific to my bike. And I know that most cans they do sell like the Vance and Hines or the D&D systems have a really small can on them.

So I was thinking why couldn't I get a slip-on for a different bike that's newer and has a bigger can and modify the mounting bracket to put it on my bike as long as the mid-pipe diameters were of similar size.

I appreciate any info.

Thanks,
Lee

just might work :thumb:

your best bet would be looking around at bikes, take some measurements, and find one that has a really close, if not the same mounting position. Where the can mounts to the bike would not be hard at all to fabricate, you just need to make sure the part that slips on to the head has the correct bend angles and length.... so, yeah I think it can be done. And odds are, one of the newer model fzr's slip ons would be compatible with your bike anyway. wouldn't hurt to call a few manufacturers.

good luck,
Matt
