During the past two months we have been having a lot of problems with the website. From server overloads to hardware failures.

I have done everything in my powers to speed up the website because of these problems but it just didnt seem to work.

Tonyb, my acting Web server administrator would not put in the required amount of time to keep the webserver fully operational and at peak performance.

This has resulted in many down times and even lost of posts and user accounts.

Last night at about 6:55pm I received a email about our site being hacked. The Message board was altered and messages where being purged. I removed the bb software so they could not harm the site anymore.

I worked on the website for 4 hours last not going through each user file to see who was made a administrator and how they got in. I found out that the member directory that stores our accounts/passwords was never protected (Something Tonyb is responsible for).

I finally moved the directory so it couldnt be easily searched and remapped the bb software.

As I cleaned up the website and almost ready to go back online the website totally crashed. This could have been Tonyb shutting down the website so no other problems could happen. Or the machine failed due being overloaded once again and never came back.

As of right now I am sorry to say that Sportbikes.net will not be comming back anytime soon. I am firing Tonyb as my Web server administrator which will not allow me to run a free website anymore.

I will be finding other options due to the Popularity of Sportbikes.net.

Currently this place has been my other favorite BB to visit. I know the webmaster here and have emailed each other before. I hope everyone finds this place as a new home. I am really glad to see the banner problem was taken care of and I will be a visitor often to this website as long as that stays true.

Again, I am sorry that this has come to a conclusion like this. But I dont have enough time in the day to keep worring if the website is up and running ok. The decision of shutting down sportbikes.net isnt becuase of last nights hack. But no way of fixing a problem without a box being stable.

I wish everyone luck in the future and please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any other questions.

Well remember.. This isnt becuase of the hacking. This is becuase we have a box that the web server admin does not want to spend the time and upgrade.

He has a Duel Pentium Pro sitting right next to him that he wont spend one night setting up.. I guess I shouldnt have trusted him to get the work done.

I hate to hear that. :(

I have read that board on many occasions and wish you luck for the future.

We are happy to have you here more.

We sure could have used you guys in here a couple of weeks ago. It got so bad that we had to scrape the bottom of the barrel and make Squidwannabe(Adam) a Moderator.:p

What a bummer! I enjoyed the site and all the new changes that were taking place. I feel for you, to put all your hard work into something just to be let down by someone else.

Well... SHIT! I must say that sportbikes.net was by far the best site on the net, at least one of my favorites.
I hope that it becomes operational again. I guess now I will have to become homeless once again (that was the first BB where I actually wanted to be a registered member).

The people on that site were truly willing to help others (of course you did have to put up with some sarcasm) and you could always count on someone posting something to make you laugh, even if they were just making fun of Jet... Sportbikes.net will be missed :(

Watch it Mr. Don't come in here talking crap like that. We are the best site on the net. www.sportbikes.net was just a close second.:D:p

The two combined will definitely make for the best. ;)

I was just there and it said something about being back up in a week or so. Was the decision to axe the site made after that was put up or has something been worked out to keep an awesome site up and running?

Well this is why i said maybe dead.. Tonyb and I are going to try this out one more time.. he has one week to prove himself.. New forums on a faster server.

Now.. if this does not happen in a week I will be getting a new host for the forums and I will keep up the website. This is the good news. I will have to pay for the hosting for the forums but the rest of the site can still be at tonyb's server since it wont run cgi scripts.

So this is what I have come up with. I hope you guys enjoy sportbikeworld.com as much as I do during the meantime.. I will keep posting for everyone to know whats going on..

I wish you luck, Fred, with getting the site back up and running. :) I hate to see any sportbike-related site having problems at all.
