I know I should be able to figure this out but I would like to know for sure.
I'm doing a 520 conversion on my R6 and the replacement chain I have is 120 links long and I need to cut it down to 116 links. So my question is, what constitutes a "link"? Is it the outer plate or the inner roller section or both?
Thanks, Steve

Looks like the outer plate, but I'd say count 'em just to be sure. It should be easy to count fairly quickly. Just count one or the other and that should tell you.:)

Edit: Here is another one I found
Starting with the master connecting link (counted as "1") count all outer side plates on one side of chain. Double that number equals the number of links (e.g. 48 outer side plates equals 96 chain links).
