I've been wondering when we'll start seeing bikes without any tail section. I mean, if you don't need a pillion seat, why have it at all?

Ok, more specifically, the Big Four.

It seems you'd have to have something back there, especially if you've got an undertail exhaust. I know for Ducati, the 999 tail section is noticeably shorter on the monoposto than the biposto. I'd like to see that option from the big 4. Don't think I'd go for the "no tail" look.

No, that's actually a bad design. When the brake is applied, the chain slack moves from the bottom to the top, then vice-versa when power is applied again. It does have the advantage of a greater swept area because of the gearing, and lower unsprung weight, but it hardly qualifies as ingenious. Most lawnmowers and many tractors have inboard brakes.
