I am starting this topic, because the rearset topic set it off for me. I have Attack performance rearsets, which are something like 10mm back and 10 mm up over stock. I like the new positioning. When I watch riders on tv they can get into postion and stick their knee out well before the turn. I try and cant get my knee out as far as I want. I am pretty flexible and started doing these birthing contration spread thingies at the gym. Still I don't feel like my knee is in a correct spot, my knee is closer to the bike, which sometimes makes me have too much lean angle. Do rearsets, different bikes have any affect on how far I want to put my knee out as a lean indicator or am I im the incorrect postion to start with. I am getting pretty good at PIR, top guys are running 1:11s. I rode a friends stock R6 and immediately was doing 1:16s, got back on my bike and it felt like poo, but by the end of the day I was doing 1:17s on a stock 6R. The top guys on 250s are running 1:14s, so I know that I can shave a few seconds off my times before I need a new bike or modified engine. Still looking for that edge.

You don't mention how tall you are... the world's best are really short, leaving them with less leg to fold up and manuever.

Also, sliding around the seat makes a difference, as well as forward and back.

Have a blast!
