I don't know about in California, but here in AZ I just got a quote for everything (liability and whatever else there is) for $535 a year (and that's for me, 16 years old on a 600cc bike.) Hope that helps.
We had $408/year for full coverage (50/100 limits) on a 2000 F4 - spicersh was 22 when he got it, no motorcycle license... not too bad. This was with State Farm.
Only issue you MIGHT run into is that State Farm is not writing any new policies if they can help it at this time. If you currently have a car/truck policy with them, then you should be able to add on a bike no problem.
I am hearing that from a lot of people - Progressive is expensive, Farmers isn't writing motorcycle polices, Allstate isn't and I don't think AAA is, either. If you currently are with any of these companies, you might want to call before you get the bike.
Thanks for letting me know, I am 19 yrs old and I have neither of those insurance companies for my car. I think it might be a little bit more expensive. But, the good thing that I have a clean record so it shouldn't be a problem.
