I've got a '01 929 RR, and cannot find a place to get a front sproket, w/ 15 teeth... The stock is 16/front and 43/rear... I was told that going down 1 in the front will increase the torque massively... I dont want to have to change out chains, nor alot of alterations... Is this going to make me run at alot higher rpms on the interstate? i realy dont wanna hurt the engine, nor suck all the gas out of my bike during cruising speeds... any advise is appreciated... by the way, sproket specialists doesnt have the front in a 15....

thanx,

brennan

Try AFAM or Vortex Racing. Sprocket Specialists can make you one upon request, but it'll cost some extra bills for machine setup.

You will run into all those issues that you've mentioned. You will also offset your speed (will read higher than actual), therefore you will also rack more miles on your odometer, than actual.

But you know what? Doesn't seem to bother many people any.

Do a search for sprockets. If I remember right, there was a really good thread about this a couple years ago, with all the equations and all! If someone remembers that thread, dig it out and post it, that'd be great!
