You can start on a 600 with a little sense and self control, but I would really suggest starting on a used bike that you get at a good price because you
most likely WILL drop it and slip clutches and grind gears, etc. My personal choices would be a F2, F3, EX500.
After you get comfy on a used bike, you can sell it and recover most of your money if its in decent shape. Then, You will be much happier to go buy your brand new shinny pretty bike knowing that you can treat it properly and have a much lower risk of dropping it.
