I need help. I'm running Windows 98 on my old desktop with AOL (I know) and can't get the pop ups and pop downs to stop. I didn't have a problem til install AOL 8, didn't happen with AOL 7. I have the pop up controls set on AOL and as usual it doesn't work. Is there something I can adjust like how XP messenger service can be turned off? Any FREE pop up control software out there? Please help, this is driveing me crazy and my kids play games on here and they got a porn pop up that pissed me off.

Thanks.

get a 20 pound sledge and go to town!!!!!!!!!!
I need a new desktop. When I'm not being a lazy bastard, I set up my laptop and use it. I may just start amassing parts to build a better one. Anyone have a 800 bus speed mother board for Intel 4 processor laying around for 10 bucks? hahahahaha

Go to www.downloads.com and search for a pop-up killer. I got one at home that kick's ass. :)

Definitely get a popup killer, if you can not find one, I can probably find one on some cd of stuff that I have. The one I have, you blacklist them when they pop-up, if you do not want them to pop-up again. I am not sure if pop-up is going to do the job on that though, I have never checked if they were actual system messages or pop-ups. I will have to figure that out this weekend......but I am on 2k....time to get off of 98 dude....need software...ask!

What do you need something like that for, it is not going to help out too much in the world of dialup. I just rebuilt my mom's computer with a board and processor from www.newegg.com AMD 2500+ XP processor and an MSI board total = $154.00 the boards are considered refurbished, but hold full warranty.....the screwed up and put some incompatiable parts on them and had to recall them....so they changed out the parts and they work great onboard lan, usb 2.0, onboard audio and it is good, onboard video that is pretty good too. Easy to setup everything, if you can follow the schematics...basic mini-ATX board.

If you need software Teabagger, I probably got anything you need. As for AOL, get rid of it.

First of all, get the damn spyware/adware off your pc, that is the only good way to solve your problem, and it will most likely make your system faster too.

Go to http://www.download.com and search for Adaware. Download it. Open it, scan your system. Make it delete everything it finds. Then go into Control Panel. (Start, Settings, Control Panel) Double Click Add/Remove Programs. Uninstall everything that doesn't sound right, like Time Manager and all that bull crap. Then go to Internet settings click the security tab and set it on medium. Don't click yes for any popups, it will just install more adware.

I don't use pop-up blockers cuz they suck ass, are poorly written and sometimes they block stuff that you really need to see. Maybe some are good, but a good start is to get rid of that shit on your pc the kids put on first.
