For those of you that haven't heard already, we've lost another local rider. His name is Matt Lee. He rode a blue 99 R1. He was killed in an accident with another vehicle at about 4:30 Pm Friday the 17th.

Matt was a very close friend to us all, and it so painful to loose another of our close friends.

Matt talked many times about "if anything ever happened." He always said he wanted a motorcycle prossesional at his funeral, if it were to come to pass. Matt loved bikes, and left us doing what he loved.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made, but, as soon as they have, I will post them here. I am SURE that Matt would want everyone who is willing to ride in his prossesion to participate.

Matt leaves behind his wife, of less then a year, Heather.

I'm leaving for an overseas trip for the next week in the morning. I won't be able to participate - I'm having knee surgery on Monday when I get back (legacy of my last lowside), which will keep me off bikes for a while.

I didn't know him - but it's sad news.

The Funeral will be held at 2 pm, Friday the 24th, at Newcorner Family Mortuary. 6812 E. Thomas rd.

All are welcome at the funeral, and riding is encouraged.

The funeral will be followed by a party in Matt's honor at the Lee house. Please contact me by PM or e-mail if you need more information.

Maybe I should be a bit more carefull around town... Especially with the GF in the back. My condolences to all that lose a good friend. But lets not let an accident like this cloud out minds with worries when we ride out in the jungle. :)

Shit,

I'm flying out at 7:05am on Friday morning for a season ending Pocketbike race and national awards banquet in Myrtle Beach, SC and will not be back until Monday night.

Sorry Kevin, I really wanted to be there. Please make sure you pass along my condolences to friends and family.

Schedule Update:

The Funeral will be at 2 pm on friday as previously posted.

We will be riding to the funeral in a group. We'll be meeting at 1:00 to 1:15pm at the Pavillions. We'll meet in the parking row where the motorcycles are on saturday nights.

We'll be riding in a very close group. Plans are in the works for a police escort. The detective incharge of the case is a rider, and is trying organize an escort for us. Even if we don't have an escort, we will still ride together in a group. Everyone is welcome. I know Matt would love to have an enourmous group of bikes.

One of Matt's very close friends is currently bikeless, but would like to ride with us. If anyone has a bike that they might be willing to loan (to an experienced and responsible rider) please contact me.

There will still be a "party" to celebrate Matt's life Friday night. It will be a potluck, so please bring something to share (whether it be food, desert, or beverage).

Once again, if you have any questions, please contact me by e-mail or PM.

I really would like to go to offer my respects as a fellow rider but I don't want to intrude on a private funeral. Was his request to have strangers there? I'm a pretty strange person. really.

Its a public invitation to anyone who wants to attend. Matt loved bikes, and he loved people. And trust me.. there is no one stranger then Matt. :D :D

If you'd like to attend, and ride with us, we'll be meeting at the pavillions tomorrow at 1 pm to ride to the funeral.

I'll be the guy on the green (front) and black (back) Kawasaki.
