It was with those words that my Great Grandfather, Cpl. Henry (Harry) Ernest Sullivan A.I.F. (24/03/1895 - 19/03/1993), began his war diary. Along with four of his brothers, he had joined-up to fight in WWI. He became a Lighthorseman and, as part of the 5th Australian L/H Regiment, he fought in the Middle East. Two of his brothers didn't return home; one of them died in New Zealand, the other at the Somme, France.Saturday, May 22, 1915.
Went (to) Sydney by “Wollongbar” to enlist.
