Went (to) Sydney by “Wollongbar” to enlist.
It was with those words that my Great Grandfather, Cpl. Henry (Harry) Ernest Sullivan A.I.F. (24/03/1895 - 19/03/1993), began his war diary. Along with four of his brothers, he had joined-up to fight in WWI. He became a Lighthorseman and, as part of the 5th Australian L/H Regiment, he fought in the Middle East. Two of his brothers didn't return home; one of them died in New Zealand, the other at the Somme, France.

May all those who've fallen rest in peace...

Hi All-

For anyone who wishes to see an excellent movie about the brave Australians who fought during W.W.I along with a great story of true friendships, rent GALLIPOLI this weekend.

It features a very young Mel Gibson and Mark Lee and was made about twenty years ago or so. Anzac Day is certainly a very solemn day of remembrance for our Down Under friends. Thanks for a very moving post, cookeetree.
