Following on from my post in the pictures section, here is a follow up on one of the great people involved in bringing our pastime into the future.

If you have not heard of John Britten, or did not know much about him or his bike, have a look at this site.

The photos just don't do that bike justice. It was/is a true piece of engineering art. The bike is ugly until you get to look at it up close. I had the pleasure of seeing that thing up close at Road Atlanta here in the States when Nick Ienatch(sp) was racing it in FUSA. They wouldn't even run it in the rain because of fear of crashing. But he did crash it on Sunday but not to much damage.

When Britten died we lost a true inovator. :(

Did you look at the photos in the photos section? there is plenty of close up's taken by a friend of mine yesterday, at the museum of NZ, in Wellington.

i never met the man, but saw his creatation at loudon in 1996. wow, the header pipes alone were art.

I knew John Britten and his bike were special when I saw the bike WHEELIE past the field on the banking at Daytona at 160+.I hope the legacy of Britten lives on forever.
