I believe the M3 could have more pull at 100+. But if they wanted to compete with Italy's "bad boy," why didn't they use the 999?

It's an old article, back then it was probably the 916 or 996, not 999.

But this is even more looney, in this case, how is that even possible at a drag race, the bike takes a holeshot win front standing still, but from a roll on at 25 mph, suddenly the M3 with 400hp is keeping up, and magically it disappears after 120 mph?? I'd say you'd need at least 600hp in that chasis to scratch the bike's paint. And a lot more power to go up against the 916 SPS or literbikes.

The 748 is no pansy bike, even if it was slightly slower than the 600s.

A typical 748 did 1/4 mile less than 11.5 sec, and later the R version did around 10.95. Reading the test, it sounds awfully like as if the bike wasn't tested at all or to its full capability, they just picked up the figure from other publication, and then decide to make a "comparo."
