A shocker I have to admit. The darn helmet actually saved his life & to think the helmet's shield was still in the van. Can only hope the driver had insurance & all will come out to the best, plus the judge will drop the book on this hit & run since the rider was still in the rear portion. At least the cops did follow up the LP.

Sort of different, but interesting is that I was riding pillion on a friend's Royal Enfield 350-----we were going to a movie & thought best to have just one bike out to be grabbed & besides he had the proper pillon saddle.

There is this NARROW bridge we are crossing when suddenly we are hit from behind & being '49 then a lot of pre-war cages SO I am hanging onto the hood ornament & one foot on the footrests.

We are stopped & the chap is so drunk that he falls out to oncomming traffic.----we are able to get him back into the carge & Norm was pounded around on the rear mudguard & pillion saddle so the bike can sort of used. By the way no helmets in those days or protective riding gear.

Once across from the bridge we report it to the city police only they tell us to "go to 'ell". So off we went with said good words from the city police & wondering what was done about the traffic for I had throwen the driver's keys into the box of an oncomming truck that slowly crawled by said incident. Actually I was going to throw them over the HighNarrow Bridge, but did the other.

The cage driver was frightened?????? I guess he would be to see a m/cist part way into the rear of his cage. Pity of this all is unfortunately the m/cist's insurance will have to cover the costs for no matter what------anyone hitting the rear of a cage is in the wrong.

He was frightened he'd be caught DUI, or carrying something illicit. Don't worry too much about the motorcyclists' expenses, S. anything he pays out he'll recover in the lawsuit he is certain to file......
