Just before I first fire up my 03 600R, I hear the fuel pump putting along for a bit as it builds pressure after turning the key. That's sure what it sounds like anyway. Last bike made no noises, so want to check with others that this is cool.

Cooling fan comes on WAY more often than last bike (98 cbr600), too, when I'm cruising around in traffic. Does the 600r have smaller radiator than some bikes? I realize that as long as fan comes on I'm ok, but that fan is sure going to get a workout when it actually gets above 45 degrees.

I know there are a few of you with 600R's out there. What do your bikes run like?

Hey Jrm,

I have the 02 600R with about 5k miles on it. The clicking your
hearing when you start up the bike is the fuel pressure building
up. It will do this on with a cold engine. On mine when starting
a cold engine with the choke on and then turning the key I will
hear the clicking sound. It usually lasts a second or two. Once
the engine warms up it won't do it when you shut down and
start up again. Remember these bikes are cold natured. Always
give it at least several minutes to warm up before taking off and
don't rev it while she is cold.

As for the cooling fan, well mine hardly never comes on. My bike
runs cool and hardly comes off the 60c mark on the temp gage.
I'm in hot South Central Florida and it has only came on 3 times
that I know of. All of those days were well up into the 90's.
Of course I don't do a lot of stop and go riding. It's mostly 40mph
and higher. The times it did come on was at very low speeds
with stop and go traffic for several minutes(5 to 10). The first
couple of times it came on I was concerned of over heating, but
hey that's why it's there and it did it's job just fine. After you get
back up to speed the fan will shut off and you can watch the
temp gage go down. With over 5k miles my bike is runs just like
the day I bought it. Hope you have fun with yours. They are a
lot of fun to ride.:D

That's about what I thought. Fuel pressure and fan stuff. Guess I get more traffic than you do, because my fan has been off and on a dozen times in the 200 miles I have owned it! My loss. Think I will make sure I have spare fuse for that fan with me at all times.

My bike is riding BETTER than the day I bought it with suspension adjustments and less grabby of a clutch. Did you notice a lessening of the crunchiness shifting into first from neutral? I forget what my old CBR was like when new, but this baby grinds in there roughly (compared to 20k cbr...).

So far it is a great bike. I'm keeping this one locked...

I have looked there extensively, but cannot get logged into that EZBoard crap. Had problems with other EZB's in the past too. So, I look and then come back to Motozine.com.

This board works SO well. :thumb:
