I've heard the 2001 Honda VTR1000 will have increased fuel capacity, raised clipons, updated gauges, etc. At least the European version. Will the U.S. version get the same changes?

From what I have heard, no, not in 2001.

Thats too bad :( I really like that bike, But I would have to choose the TLs just because of the fuel capacity. If they were on par at that level, I'd take a VTR.

Dont know where you guys get some of ya info.The tls to heavy?Steers like a barge?
Vtr 186kg.Castor/trail 25deg/98mm
916 Duck 190kg.Castor/trail 24-25 deg/94-100 mm
Tls 191kg.Castor/trail 23.7/93.5mm
Throw in the fact that the tls has a shorter wheel base by 15mm over the vtr.I test rode the vtr/tls/tlr/916 and liked em all dont get me wrong.Just get ya facts right

That is Suzuki's claimed dry weight. Check some mags where they do comparos and record the actual curb weights. It seems that Suzuki lies through their teeth. Then again, maybe the mags I read were wrong. I have ridden both bikes, though, and the VTR definitely feels a lot lighter, and turns a lot better. At least with the stock suspension settings. People say that if you dial in the Suzy's suspension properly, it handles a whole hell of a lot better. I have no reason to doubt that.

Ya right that suzuki state that the tl weighs 191kg and all my mags say 187kg.The reason the vtr feels lighter is that it has a lower c/g.The honda also has softer springs causing the front to dive more in cnrs maybe why you think it turns better.Ya also get a extra 14hp with the tl.Better all round i say.Then again some ppl like goin slow and soft handling.Im not one and i dont think you are seeing as you own a blade nearly brought one of them nice bike just a little to cramped for me.Dam long legs,ya like the blade?

I can honestly say that it is the best damn bike I have ever ridden, and I have ridden a lot of different bikes. It may be a couple of ponies down on the R1, and about 10 on the Gixxer 1000, but it still has more power than any sane person would want for riding on the street. Then there is the handling. Un****ingbelievable for a liter bike. Really. It blows me away how quickly that thing will change direction, and go from full lean one side to full lean the other side. It will also just take any line you want through a corner and then switch halfway through like it was nothing. I switch off with my riding buddies' R1s all the time, and the 929 just plain blows them away in the corners.

Is that right about the dry weight for the TL??

Heres some wet weight numbers from the back of the May 01 copy of MotorCyclist (their numbers from comparos and bike tests)

TL1000S - 487 LBS Tested 06/00

VTR1000F - 480 LBS Tested 06/00

RC-51 (VTR1000R) - 489 LBS Tested 08/00

Keep in mind that these are wet weights, which should matter more to us, seeing as I usually put gas and oil in my bike (well sometimes anyways). As a comparison, here's the manufactures claimed dry weights

TL1000S - 421 LBS

VTR1000F - 423 LBS

RC-51 (VTR1000R) - 432 LBS

Yep the dry weight is right.Dont know about imsw 1 lbs figures are right or not.Ya blade does sound good,now if they made em a bit bigger and i wasn`t so much in love with the twin.Id buy one,mmmm maybe i need 2 bikes.

Suzuki's claimed dry weight

TLR - 434 lbs
TLS - 421 lbs

Honda's claimed dry weight

VTR - 423 lbs
RVT - 432 lbs

Tested wet weight's

Suzuki

TLR - 505 lbs
TLS - 487 lbs

Honda

VTR - 480 lbs
RVT - 489 lbs

Now judging by these numbers, the Honda's and TLS are pretty much dead on, where Suzuki is lying through their teeth on the TLR.

It's kind of funny that the TLR supposedly gains 71 pounds with fluids where the others only gain 50 lbs or so.

They're including the weight of the oil puddle on the ground under the TLR. :D

I don't know why everyone here is always dissing Harley! :mad: They've consistently turned out quality, high performance motorcycles that can run circles around our Japanese and Italian POS's. Let's face the harsh truth: either you have a Harley or you want one!

Just for the record. I don't own a Harley and I don't want a Harley. If you gave me a Harley I would likely sell it and buy something else. :)

I want a harley,who else can make a motor leak so much oil and put out so little power.Plus crap looks and u have it all.
