Hey there guys, so after months of deliberation and riding a few bikes ive come across a 97 zx6r with 17k on it. for the price we agreed upon, i think its a solid buy, considering i put some work into it. we settled on $1800, started at $2300.

issues:
-side (L / R) fairings were stolen
-clutch lever bent FOREWARD (first time ive ever seen it bent foreward, maybe from a drop where the bike slid and spun?)
-needs rear brakes

Other than that the bike is in decent condition, all other bodywork is original and doesnt show much signs of abuse, minus the usual wear and tear (its 10yo after all).

My only concern is that i've never owned a kawi ninja, from what im told (which could be simple hearsay) is that ninja motors, although reliable, are the most likely to have major issues in the long run, as compared to honda or suzuki engines.

The bike itself is AMAZINGLY comfortable, i sat on it and rode it for 5min, felt like i already owned it. ive rode a few f4's and f4i's before and none were as comfortable as this bike. accel and shifting seemed smooth, and cornering felt a bit easier.

What are your opinions on this bike in general, and on its current condition? any information would be useful as i am seeking wisdom, not support! thanks guys!

my 3 Kwakers have been solid as a rock

all ninjas

all awesome

all the time

but
I might be biased

I've had Hondas, Suzukis,Yamahas, a Sears 150 2 stroke ( we never got it started)

I prefer Kawasaki's

just my opinion mate :2cents:

My first bike was a 2001 ZX-6R. I know exactly what you mean about it being comfortable!!! wow do I miss it on the long ride days. Mine had 20,000+ miles on it and was still fantastic, even after I sent it sliding down the freeway. My buddy owns it now and loves the heck out of it, and it's his first bike too.

My roommate has a 99 ZX-9R (that bike's big brother) and he's got 40,000+ miles on his and it runs like a champ!

So yeah: Good bike, Plenty strong.

Even with the imperfections, seems like a good deal for $1800.

40,000+ miles on my ZX-11 now. Never any problems whatsoever. Put 40,000 (really hard) miles on my first Ninja- a 1986 600R. That bike was absolutely bulletproof.

Go for it, no point in not, especially since the sale is in person.

Does the clutch have any problems or is it just cosmetic?
