955iDSASTR those arent low and full lines so much as they are hot and cold lines. When the bike is cold the level should read to the lower line, when hot It will be around the upper line. This is how a pressurized coolant system works. If your within those perameters your good. Get the motor hot and look at the level as well. If overfilled it will blead out a tube under the bike when the bike gets hot, so dont think its broken.

kudamasta Thanks Rundog, I am going to order a shop manual in the next few days. This site is great!

Rundog That's your antifreeze bottle. Fill it to a point halfway between the lines with a solution of ~ 70% distilled water & 30% of your favorite aluminum-safe antifreeze.

Do NOT put tap or mineral water into your bike.

Having just got the bike, with a low coolant level, it would be good idea to drain & refill the entire system. Best way to be sure it is done correctly is to follow the steps laid out in the .....

If you have to, buy a factory, Haynes, or Clymer manual. Not the manual that tells you to 'Refer this to your authorized dealer' , but a shop manual. They'll pay for themselves the first time you use them, and they could make the difference between no problem & expensive engine damage. Or life & death...

kudamasta Yeah i bought the bike without the owner's manual, and the little box is nearly dry. It has a high and low reading see through screen (like the oil), and it is low. Since i can't be sure if it is coolant due to the small amount in their, i dont want to put coolant in the wrong place. Thanks for the replies!

Rundog If there is antifreeze in it, you're probably right.

There should only be three kinds of bike owners...Those who already know, those who have a manual, and those who take their bike to the dealer......I'm a number two.

There are links on this board for downloading manuals, search on 'manual'

Enjoy that 6.............

coolant fill

I just bought a 2002 ZX -6R a few weeks ago and want to know what that little box that has a cap on it next to the idle screw is. I think it is for coolant, but I would just like to be sure. Thanks for any help!
