Something is fishy with his math. He assumes that 1 gallon of crude make a gallon of gas, which is pretty obviously false. I dont know what the actuall ratio is, but if we assume that its 3 gallons of crude to a gallon of gas (just for the sake of the argument) then a $0.10 increase in the price of a gallon of oil will result in a $0.30 in a price of a gallon of gas.
I'm starting to suspect that this is the sort of study that knew what it wanted to find.

xboxdynasty If they are making so much how come gas prices are soo high. Somewhere in there the prices are being raised to allow for such profit...

Thats old news! Friggin conspiracy theorists... they were right for once. Oil companies run the government of most countries so they can run however they want.

Exxon's stock increased in value 500% during his reign as CEO of Exxon is IMO a much more accurate statement. It's equivalent to all the critics who don't believe Bush is responsible for anything cause he's just a figurehead and doesn't really have any power..

Lets not foster socialism, please, just take a look at how well its working for europe. They are paying $5 a liter there.

By "We are all in this together" I think he meant the global competition. There is so much oil, and the chinese want it just as much as we do. To me, that seems the greatest danger of going after our oil companies. While they make their insane revenues, they are strong, and can fight off current competition. And as mentioned earlier there is an easy way to take part of their profits. If we bind our companies together, they will loose ground to foreign gas companies. Then we will have a whole shit load of cheap non existant gas. I'd rather see a gas station with a $6/gallon sign then one with a $1/gallon and an "empty" sign.
I have nothing against the free market system. I don't even have anything against the ridiculously inflated compensation packages paid to most CEO's. Hey, if you can pull it off, all the more power to ya! God knows I'd like to be in that same position myself.

What galls me is when those who are in positions of massive wealth or power try to pretend like they are just like the "average Joe". People at this level are completely out of touch with reality as the average person experiences it, and to pretend otherwise is hypocritical and insulting.
