Smitty You do not need a faster bike so you can keep up with the others. You set YOUR PACE & in that way you have a much better chance of lasting longer in life.

This comes from an old fart that is into his 59th year of riding, that includes 42 yrs of tough comp work basically in dirt, but also in road racing, & has received more speeding tickets then he wants to think about.

After all I can receive speeding tickets for even the fastest hwys in Cdn., with just a '97 Yamaha YZF600r yet also have a Honda 929 & 954. I do NOT ride with others so there is no speeding to stay up with the others & have yet to have a rider pass me for these are the twisty roads of the Cdn Rockies & have riden in them most of my life.

Unas_the_Slayer Don't worry about being the "slow guy." I have a 97 CBR 600 and I ride with Busa's.. gixxers.. R1's.. the only times I've fallen behind is on some twisties. But I've only been riding for a month and a half compared to the years those guys had been riding. As far as high-speed highway runs go.. I can get my bike up to 150 and that's with -1 +2 gearing which brings down top speed (I have a speedo healer, so it's accurate).

more proformance issues

sounds like u have plenty of bike for the road...
i have a honda cbr 600 and i can get'er up to 130 no problem.
i have ran with busa's and gsxr's just about every weekend.
If you arent racing on the track, i wouldnt worry about upgrading
just yet.
The road conditions dictate the speed in which you can travel.
so the rest is up to the drivers ability.
my last bike was a gsx 750... and i personally think the cbr 600
is just as quick.
so work on you skills before you go drop more denairo down on another ride.

spicersh If I'm not mistaken the qorld record is, or at least was, held by an XX.

As far as that being a good starter bike, sounds like you already know the answer to that. The Busa will not get you anything performance wise. According to http://motorcyclistonline.com/performancedata/ the XX has a quicker quarter mile anyway. Neither it nor the Busa are the fastest though.....

Even though i'm new to sportbikes and only been riding a year and the first bike i bought is my 99 1100xx blackbird, i'm already feeling the improve performance itch, in terms of speed and acceleration. i know, i know, i should enroll in a training course and am already looking at some class in my area but in the meantime what should i do about performance issues. i mean the majority of the guys around hear have suzuki 13000 busa, I don't want to be the last guy across the finish line.
