Having a naked bike, I'd consider anything with a fairing to be an exotic!
But honestly, there are "Exotic" bikes out there that cease to be so exotic when they become quite common (i.e. "everyone" has one).
However by that criteria, my Kawi ZR-7 would be considered because they're pretty damned uncommon. Right? Right?.... Um... didn't think so.

The Duc and the MilleR aren't exotics IMO either. MV is because it is so exclusive although a GSXR750 is a better bike.
As mentioned the Bimotas, Britton, etc. are exotics. None of them are worth the money but who cares. Are Porches, Ferarris, etc. worth the money?

|nhfirefighter13||I don't think I'd ever consider buying a Ducati. I would however spend the cash for an RSV-R or an MV simply for the appeal of having something out of the ordinary for this area. I've seen maybe 3 Aprilias on the road in the last 2 years and have never seen an MV being ridden.|

|Tristan||The MV is the only one I'd call exotic.|

I wouldn't call them exotic
Those bikes are not that exotic, but that is what they would like you to believe,
I can't go out riding without seeing a bunch of 916s one day I saw three just doing errands near my house and I don't live anywhere special, I see alot of them, the MVs seem to be less common and I usualy see them parked next to racing Ferraris at Lime Rock Park, I see Aprilias a bit too but mostly in Ct where there is a dealer, but I would say that you get your moneys worth when you buy an expensive motorcycle, because it is less than the cost of even a cheap sportscar, and about the same price as a BMW motorcycle that would not be as sexy,
I list some exotic sportsbikes, I have yet to see any on the road,
H.R.D/Vincent Black Shadow
then there are the frame makers, Bimota, Dresda, Egli, Harris, Moto Martin, Magni, Rickman, Seeley and a whole batch of others that I can not remember now, their are others but these were all I can think of now the gammas and RZs are not that pricey as is the Sei, but if you want to have them in riding condition it would be and the performance is underpar for nowadays for some, but that doesn't matter much,
The common joke about exotic bikes these days is instead of children walking up and asking "how fast can you go?" it is instead "how much does that cost?" it is true and even happened to a friend of mine on his Ducati 750

|Crazeecooter||If you ask me I think the Gixxer 1000 and the Busa are exotic. Just because everyone owns one doesn't mean anything. ZX12R, R1, 954RR, TL1000R, RC51, CBR1100XX, ZX11...all exotics to me!|

The Ducati, for instance, is Overpriced and WAY underperforming for the price you pay. Ya, it has some good parts that come standard, and it handles well, but its like a Exotic car; foolish for 'real life' use. The comfort of the seat is .... What seat?!?
AND, IMO, Ducatis looks are'nt all that.
Now if your talking about the beautiful Mille R....

What is your opinion of high-priced exotic sportbikes like the Ducati 998, MV Augusta and Aprilia RSV R? Are they worth that much money? For owners of these bikes it must not be about spec. sheet numbers - is it about pose value?
I've resolved this question for myself when I went sportbike shopping this spring but I was just wondering how others felt.
