man, my g/f almost got took by a guy on ebay...thank god she used her smarts. some guy in south carolina said that the bike was in greece. he was stationed there and he needed to get rid of the bike. he was askin 3500 for a 2005 cbr 600RR. mint condition yada yada. she backed out of it because it was an international thing (since ebay doesnt insure international sales)....thank god she backed out. i about had a heart attack when i heard about it.
edit - she didnt know about prices or anything and thought it was a good deal
the guy above me has it all right! if its too good to be true, it is, and dont trust people you cant meet or see.

I know someone who got scammed for 3500. The listing had a "pre-approved bidder and buyer" notice forcing you to contact the seller and be put on a list. After this they would get your email and send fake messages to you thinking it was from ebay. This made him feel safe and that everything was insured. After transaction complete seller never shipped bike. Valuable lesson learned- Don't buy anything you can't go see and if it sounds too good to be true- IT IS!!!
