8.78 My first time at Byron on MY BIKE!

I know I posted this same thread in Redline Forum for my freinds back home to follow.. but thought maybe some others out there might like to know as well

a lil history... changed my stock clutch over to a single stage lock up and still adjusting the settings to allow me to just dump and go... I've always just dumped the clutch but had horrible RPM drop... causing a lot of time loss.. so this was my first good day with the new set up...

Hell Yeah.. it was feelin good.. I could just taste that 8.70 comin... BUT with the new lock up I now gotta learn how to do my burnouts at a higher RPM so as to not destroy my stack height...

I only hold them at 5 - 6 RPM... now I need to hold at 7 - 8 RPM...

but as far as the dumpin the clutch - not an issue.. that was always true to form that day...

now hard on the throttle was good for many passes but a couple I got lazy and didn't go wide open immediately or had to let off cuz of the back end washing out or getting out of the groove.

THANK GOD for adjustable steering dampers - my hyperpro did it's job a couple times when the front end came up and was light and when it came back down the front kinda got unstable but with the help of the stiffer setting I was able to stay in it and keep her on track...

I got much better with staying on it with the wheelies this go around.. not use to those power wheelies and it took me gettin us to knowing if it was gonna keep rising or not like it did at Osceola ... I only short shifted in one wheelie and was told I could have rode that one out as well it was holding steady...

but didnt' get many chances to work on those in the later part of the day, cuz with my stack height less than what it should have been I was not gettin the same kinda of sling shot feel with my launches... but next time hopefully I'll be able to prevent that from happening with changing my burnout routine..

My best for the day and ever was a 8.78 @ 158 MPH... with still more room in my 60 foot to bring that down even more

FJMAN.. good to meet ya there bud.. you were doin good on that old machine man! got some big juevos in my book for takin that tall ass bike down (even strapped and lowered it looked like a giant)

E.
btw.. BIG THANKS to Byron's Camera man for capturing one of my Power Wheelies (just too bad I didnt' have Kurt there to capture it on video it was sweet feelin!)
