Launching

I am looking for some tips on getting a good launch. I am not sure if i should stall up or have the throttle cracked and dump the clutch, or if there is some other way or getting the job done.

Thumbs up

Launching is the hardest part of the whole drag racing equation. I would never wind it up and dump the clutch. This only works if the machine is race chasisied and on bars.

Launching is finding the optimal clutch and throttle actuation. Done right..........No spin, minimal wheel lift and HOT 60' times. Done right.........Get times such the "unofficial" 9.59 pass by Ryan Schnitz on a ZX6R.

Practice.......Practice..........Practice

i have gotton better 60' by reving it high and sliping the clutch as fast as i can with keeping the front down, dont pop it or youll go up
finding the right rpm launch is also important i found that i launch the best around 8-9K
if i could ust get the clutch out faster it would cut my 60's down even more

so i basically pull up shift gently into first rev and hold to about 8.5K hit the yellow light and let the clutch out as fast as i can, let off the throttle just a hair for my 1-2 shift, then pull her back and dont let go of the thottle for the other shifts.

i still need improvement cause my 60's are only low 1.9s instead of the 2.0's when i first started.

I have to agree with smokin hawk. i launch the same way and it works very good for me. it also helps to have your suspension set up right so when you come out the hole a lil bit of squatting from the bike helps keep the front end down at launch.
