First time to the track... 94 F2 how did I do?

Well after a few months of getting to know my bike I took it out to the track to see what times I could put down.

94 CBR F2: The guy I got it form put a Yoshi Exhasut on it and had it rejetted.

I weigh in at a portly 225 @ 5'9, and was dressed heel to toe in textil and leather gear...

I dont have the slips in front of me but I put down a best 12.32 @ 111 mph... This was the best I could manage. I was really coming out of the hole easy. I let the tire come off the ground once and had enough of that happy horse shit.. I launched nice and easy...

I got to run all sorts of cars, out of 12-15 runs or so I got beat once by a rich guy in a supercharged z06. His traps were at 121 mph and his et was in the 12.5 range, unforunately I had one of my more crappy of runs and he had me good...



Anyway how does my time and et compare to like bikes? There was a 1000 gsxr there that was laying down 10.XX's. The guy looked to be about 140 lbs.

12's are good for a real-world time. there's a lot more to be had, but start slow.

try taking pre-load out of the rear spring and lowering tire pressure. i'd guess 19 or so for drag racing.

i'm gonna move this to where you should get more info.

Thanks fellas! Though it was entertaining going to the strip and all, I dont think that I will go on a regular basis. I enjoy riding. The state I live in has a fair amount of beautiful country side. I'll stick to just enjoying the ride at a nominal pace.

I realize that it is recommended that people start with a 600 cc or less & get used to it before they step up to the bigger bikes... I have to admit that this little 600 is honestly all I'll ever need for my reserved habits.

The only complaint that I have is the ride can be somewhat fatiguing for long durations... I really prefer just cruising vs canyon carving... Out of the sportbikes ( I prefer that look) available out there, which is said to have the best "touring" rider position, regardless of displacement?

Most of the M/C companies that make sportbikes have the sport tourer.

Suzuki - GSX600-1100? Katanna.
Yamaha - FZ6 + FZ1 . Good from what I hear.
Kawasaki - ZX1100? Concorse I beleive.
BMW - All "sportbikes", best from what I've heard, build just for sport touring, more money though.

the Ol' Hayabusa is technically a sport touring model. Perhaps once I achieve Sumo weight I can jsutify selling the little 600 and hop on one of those.
