Lightbulb A "Stock" Machine Is Considered What?

This issue of stock seems to be brought up quite a bit. Here it is!

A person may say a ride is stock.........But is it really? Really think of what the relative term of "stock" is by the manufacturer.

Simply....STOCK IS HOW THE MACHINE ARRIVES UPON THE DEALER'S SHOWROOM FLOOR. Specified to given terms as determined by the team of engineers that developed the machine........Even down to the OEM rubber selection.

Please partake in this pole so that we can all see what YOUR perception of "stock" really is.

Late!

Stock is just that. The way the bike was bought originally.

Unless you are NASCAR and "stock" means fiberglass body, slicks, and an engine that produces 5x the original horsepower.

stock is what came in the crate..

changing valve angles is not stock..
cleaning up ports is not stock
changing gear ratios(sprockets) is not stock..
fecking with the computer is not stock..
rejetting is not stock..
changing the exhaust is not stock...
back in the old days you could take a car and blue print it..stuff 5:50 gears in it, replace steel panels with fiberflass/aluminium..and this was not consideres stock...it was called super stock..this car off the show room floor might turn 15's, with these mods the fecker would turn10's....

i dont believe a "stock" 600 will turn in the 9's........yet!

IMHO stock is as it came from the dealer with maybe the exception of tires.

Lightbulb

Super Stock is NOT a different thing. The choices listed are what a "stock" ride (homologation) would go through from "bone" stock through to complete PRO RACE machine.

Now PRO STOCK is what you maybe thinking of..........NOW THAT IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT ANIMAL IN ITSELF.

Hope This Helps?

perhaps I'm still reading it wrong, but when I read your post I think your asking what can you do before a bike is no longer considered stock, if so then I'd say tires, spark plugs and filter is about it.

Question

Question is............

What do YOU consider "stock" to what "stock" may really be? No tricks with this question............Straight forward to see how many people actually know this term, "STOCK".

still kinda confused, , how can you have a survey that requires an explained answer, stock is an obvious term, it means un modified, tires are not a modification, just a replacement same with plugs and air filters, these 3 sometimes give you more power or performance but most of the time they ae just replacement alternatives
