SV650 or SV650S. I LOVE my bike. It has GREAT torque (of course, it is a twin, so it would, but I digress). The seat is comfortable and is almost "squishy" compared to most supersport 600s. The seating position (I have an S) can be aggressive or relaxed depending on what riding you're doing. You can get mighty good mileage if you're not wringing it out... I've topped 56mpg when taking it easy and just putting around on a commute.
My suggestion is to wait for the international motorcycle show to roll in around you. They have ALL the bikes there and you can sit on most of them (minus the expensive italians). You'll get a pretty good idea what you want after that.

Shes looks good but if you really study it...she has much more MILD geometry and is geared toward beginner. I dont take offense to that as I feel better with more mild or sudtle turning abilities and a stable feel. The rake is 26 vs many other bikes at 25 or steeper. The bike sits your upright on the bike vs tank leaning and lower bars. and seat and bars are adjustable to help get just the right comfort to it.
If you look hard at the numbers I think its gonna be a good STABLE bike for someone looking for more power. as in my case coming from a 250 too. But she looks all sport.
my 2cents worth. I also talked with alot of friends and what not hat have all from sv's to ducatis to aprillas and all agree a solid 2nd Bike.
