Honda CBR F2

I am a new rider and I have never been on a bike before today.I've been reading posts on this site for a month or so , and have learned a lot ( a lot of information, not skill). I met someone today that is selling his 94 f2. I have several questions about this situation.

1. He has had an F3 decal kit put on. It looks good , and fooled me, but i wouldnt knwo the difference anyway. Is that tacky , or an insult to someone who actually has an F3?

2. The odometer seems to have "fallen into the gauges" as he says , and tells me that it has about 12k miles. I asked him for some sort of proof , which he then could not provide. do you think this is a scam?

3. I rode the bike , it runs/rides fine ( for what i know). I went about a quarter mile down the street, made a utrn in the road and came back. It was a little awkward turning out of the drive way, but wasnt too bad. I gave it a little gas and I went faster. I only put it into 2nd gear when riding , and im not even sure of how high i put the RPM's. To cut to the chase I was comfortable riding it.

4. I looked at the blue book value, $3025, and informed him that i did. He told me that he wanted 3500, and i told him again that the blue book was only 3025. he told me that he wouldnt sell it for less that 3200. I've looked at other f2/f3's and i did notice that it was way too much in comparison to others. He told me it was because of the season and its warming up and all bikes will sell for more that the BB. True or false?

WHERE CAN I GET INFO ON MSF. I HAVENT TAKEN IT, BUT NEED TO. WHAT DO YOU LEARN , HOW LONG IS IT, ETC.

Thanks for the help.

If the mileage is unknown, the bike is not worth typical market value.

Other than book value, you can do a search on ebay for "completed items" for that year bike. See how much others are selling for. If he is firm on a price you could pick up another for with legit mileage, I'd pass on this one.

(by the way, I don't think the sticker kit is a big deal...if it looks better, it looks better)

CBR F2

1. No.

2. Sketchy.

3. 1/2 mile test ride isn't enought to test much.

4. False. The price is too high, especially without proof of mileage.

The CBR F2 and F3's are great used bike buys. But they are easy to find and I'd keep on looking.

I know someone with an f2 with 140,000 miles on it. If he can't show proof of milage look elsewhere.
