1995 Ninja ZX-6R

This will be my first bike and I found an affordable price for this. Earlier tonight I had it checked out with a friend and took it for a test run, it ran very well and no problems.

The owner was very honest and told me what problems it had and that he was using it only for racing on the track.

Anyhow here are some of the specifics i recall.

It has 4,155 miles.

The guy he bought it from had it sitting out unused for awhile so he had to do a bit of work to get it runnign since it was old.

Recently serviced, carbs cleaned, new plugs, oil changed - i don't remember what else.

Only faults he had to note is that it was setup for racing so the shifts are backwards (1 up 5 down) and the fuel line has a minor leak...

Any feedback? Are those repairs drastic etc?

Reconfiguring the shift pattern is no big deal. Neither is the fuel line leak.

But I'd be reluctant to buy a used racebike as a streetbike. There's no doubt that it's been ridden very hard and it's probably seen a few crashes too.

I would also never assume anyone you don't know is honest. Call me paranoid but everyone is out to make a dime.
