Question How much would you pay.. (please read)

How much would you pay for a:

1998 Honda CBR600 F3 that has 12500 kilometers (7767 miles) that was lightly driven from a responsible 45 year old and his wife, and the bike was dropped once with minor scratches on the body and exhaust (very, very minor). The bike was not in use for 2 years and as a result it didn't start and need a carb job, after the dealership's mechanic did a carb job it did start, and the dealership wants to sell it to me for $5000 CAD ($4275 USD).The guy originaly wanted $7000 CAD ($6000 USD). I know the owner of the dealership and he is a jerk, but i dont know anything about the values of bikes and don't know if he is tryin to rip me off. I went to the NADA appraisal website to get the used value and they are saying $4000 CAD ($3450 USD). The bike is completely stock except for a tank bra, it still has the original tires which need replacing, and the owner put a new battery in it.

I need to let him know soon because another guy is looking at it, I rode a friends 2003 Honda CBR600 F4i and now im really craving a bike. I know the bike im looking at is not the newest bike, but I will save money. It's my first bike so this is just to get me started.

Thanks

-Colin

Yep, I recently sold a 98, the purple and yellow, almost same bike, very clean, minor scratches, some carbon fiber add ons, new tires, $3500 cash

That was about 6 months ago, i bought it to sell, i paid $2500, washed it, repainted the engine side case cover,(had some scratches on it) and sold it a week later.

So $3500 on the high side, but you can do better, especially this time of year.

I bought a 2001 zx6r very clean, no scratches, 11000 miles, yellow, black, purple, for $3600, much more capable bike than the 98 cbr.

So i say keep looking, be patient.

Since it's pretty much completely stock, I'd say it's way overpriced. I got my 97 for $4100. It only had 5k miles and a shitload of mods.

Though in the case of some riders, myself included, are not keen on a "--shitload of mods--".

Ive seen several F4I's in my area go for under $4500 so if thats the one you want, not the F3 I would just wait like everyone else says.

Well some riders, myself included, are. However, this topic is about how much the bike is worth (thus why I compared it to my nearly identical bike), not whether or not Smitty likes using aftermarket parts.
