Shift From/to 1st...popping Sound??

I have an 04 zx6r...when ever I shift from or to first gear it makes a sorta popping clank sound...it also vibrates a lil, I was wondering if maybe this is normal and has something to do with the nuetral finder or if my bike needs a check up

Sounds normal, my Honda, and old Kawasaki both did it.

Preloading the shifter before pulling the clutch can give you much smoother shifts - especially in the large gap between first and second gear. Do a search on shifting in this forum as there have been many good posts on the subject. A little noise ("Cachunk...") is common though.

The noise is a side effect of a wet clutch. All bikes do it. Except ducs...
