HI! New to forum. Looking for recommendation, R6 or 6R?

HI all. Just signed up but I've been reading here for a while.

I owned a FZR600 about 10 years ago for about 3 years, and haven't ridden since then.

I got bit by the bike bug again so I just finished my MSF to refresh my riding skills. (Took it before buying my FZR as well).

I'm looking to get another 600 and have it narrowed down to the Kawi and the Yamaha.

We all know the R6 won't be out till later this month, and probably around $9000.

What would you get? I'll be riding to/from work and spirited riding over the weekends. Which one do you think you'll get?

I'm leaning toward the 636 simply because I've sat on one, and it feels great! And if I decide to go that route, will I be able to save a bit of $$$ buying during the winter (provided they have any left, there're only 2 left at the local dealership)? If I were to buy it now, I would probably have a month of riding left before it gets too cold.

What do you guys think? What would you do?

I wish the 636 had a analog tach tho..that's the only gripe I have about that bike.

I think I would go for the 636 as well for I happen to like my Honda 929 & 954 compared to the older Yamaha YZF600r that lacks the torque or power.

Actually I bought my '03 Honda 954 still in the crate in August of '04 & pleased I did. Still so much will be up to you & what others suggest.

I would have to say the 636, i am not a yami fan, the 636 is a great bike, lots of torque, and the new bodie style has got to be the bast looking kawi ever built.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Sorry haven't replied earlier, but been busy making calls, working numbers, etc.

Here's the result of all that work.

Last one.

So far I have about 100 miles on the odometer. Some initial impressions:

I don't like the digital tack. It's all but impossible to read under bright conditions. Why couldn't Kawi just put in a plain ol' analog tach?

The suspension is really stiff. When I sit on it, it barely sags. If someone can decribe to me how to soften it, I would really appreciate it. The owners manual sucks at explaining it.

Break-in sucks. 500 miles of less than 4000rpm? That's a cruel thing to do to a new owner.

Other than that, it's been a blast to ride.
