power of a 250?

Hey all...still saving up a little more money before i can afford a bike...but it still doesn't hurt to look right>
my question is, will a 500 cc (or even250) bike (ninja is what i was just looking at, but it guess any other brands work too) work decent on the highway, i dont need to go 180 or anything, but will i feel underpowered on the highway with a smaller engine? im told 600 will be just fine, so didn't know if 500 would work fine, maybe it would save me some money. and i would like to take gas mileage into account also, would a 250 or 500 get poor gas milage on highway if they are working so hard to go 80 mph?
thank you

Either the 500cc vertical twins by Suzy or Kwacker will do the job with ease. Probably the best when it comes to a beginners bike unless you want to go down to a smaller bike in power.

The 500s will not be at peak revs & so they fuel milage will be as good as the 250cc if not even better as latter has to be going full chat at that speed.
