Power differences between the ninja 250 and 500?

Yes, I did change the subject headline. I did not want to waste space on the server. My NEW question is: If I am looking between the Kawasaki Ninja 250 and 500, is the 500 worth the extra money for the power it has?

(Original Message):
I know the Kawasaki Ninja 250 has a bunch of different names, but what are they? (different years included)

The only ones I know

EX250
250R

Forget the letters for one is a bike of 250cc in size & the other is 500cc in size. Simply as that.

Edit: I tried to link, but it doesn't go to the right page for some reason. Just go to ebay motors, Kawasaki, Ninja then type in 250. I found 10 results.

You're not necessarily going to find tons of 250's or 500's for sale on ebay. I wouldn't buy over ebay anyway, unless it's a local seller.

They're also known as the EX250 and EX500.

But most sellers will list the bikes as "Ninja 250" and "Ninja 500."

250 vs 500

Well, with some breif research on the www. I found some dyno ratings on the two bikes.....

ex250
28HP @ 14K rpm
14fpt @ 8.5K rpm

ex500
51HP @ 9.5K rpm
26fpt @ 8K rpm

Judging by this my origional assumption was correct about 2x the power, or a little less. This translates into a huge difference if you were putting the two bikes side by side.

If your just using the bike to learn on back roads than the 250 may be fine. If you plan to get on main roads or hwy's then I would not get on anything less than the 500. If you need to get out of the way or get moving quickly the 250 just ain't gonna cut it.

I have a friend she is about 100lbs soaking wet.... she has a 500 that she learned on, it was the right size.

I have seen the bike pull 100mph with me on it... and I am 6'4'' over 220lbs.

GO FOR THE 500....
