Red face Another Recomendation Thread

Hey.
I'm Joe and 16 years old, I have about 4.5 grand saved up from various summer jobs. I have a love for cars and motorcycles, anything that performs I'm into. I was considering picking up a bike a while ago, and now it is looking like an even more viable option. My father had a honda 150 bike when he was just 15, then a year later he got to upgrade to a Honda 750. With this in mind, he has mixed feelings about me taking up the sport. He would love to see his son have fun the same way he did, however, he is still worried about my safety (everything has changed so much since the 70's )

Regardless, I still need to think about what I'm going to get if I take up biking.

I'm 6'0 and ~200 pounds, I play rugby so I'm not a tiny guy

I'd consider myself very responsible, however I still like to have fun.

I just know from the start that I will
A) Take the MSF course before I get my motorcycle
B) Always wear the proper gear (except the pants sometimes, I think I can get away with jeans?)
C) Never ride (or drive for that matter) under influence of alcohol/drugs
D)Always assume everyone in a cage is out to kill me.

So, what do you recomend I do when I shop for a bike?

I was looking at ~93 CBR F2s, I know that may be pushing the limit for a new rider, but would it be 'ok'?

Also, what about G E A R?

What are the good brands/online places to buy?

What should I expect to spend total? I set aside around 700 for gear... I think thats plenty but maybe it isn't...

As you can see I have a lot of questions but I'm sure you guys can help me out!

Thanks,
Joe

I didn't mean any hard feelings... just let'n ya know...

as for your size... well your roughly about my size... (6'3" 190) and I've riden a friends GF500 and it had ALOT more power than I thought... that being said... I decided to go after the SV650s... I just like the looks and ergos better... and it's something I'm gonna have for a while... some advise AGAINST this... but in the end... it's your choice... and I felt that the SV was the right choice for me... now... just to GET THE DAMN THING lol
