Bike and Gear

When buying a used bike if the person is adding used gear Is it good to use the old gear

That pretty much depends on what "gear" you're talking about. You can evaluate the condition of leathers/rain gear/boots by looking at them.

If the "gear" is helmets I would suggest you buy your own new. One thing I don't buy is used helmets, it's too hard to assess their condition and a good helmet is the most important piece of gear you can have.

Krank is right about the helmet. If it's brand new, without a scatch, good quality AND FITS YOU, I MIGHT consider the helmet.
If it's more than 3 yrs old but still perfect.....GET A NEW HELMET.

As for any other gear....... any gear is better than no gear, but if it doesn't fit right, I'd sell it and us the money to buy some gear that fits (new or used doesn't matter as long as it's in good shape).
