This upcoming Wednesday (April 24) we will be having a work party evening at Western Speedway. Those that will be attending the practice sessions and race days are encouraged to come out and help us prepare the track for the upcoming season. Also, if you know someone that would be willing to help, please bring him or her along. We will begin around 6:30pm and continue until around 8:30 or so. Please bring a shovel and rake with you as we cannot provide them.
Just got back from our first work party and things are looking better. About 30 people showed up in their work clothes and pitched in. About 100 yards of hog-fuel and 50 yards of good fill are going in and being leveled over the next couple of Wednesdays.
The new dirt section is about 500 feet long. It starts with a bermed sharp left-hander then a short straight to an 80 foot flat-top, then a sweet flat-track style level corner ending in a small jump. The next and last jump is pretty freakin big! It has a good landing before the last dirt bend onto the asphalt just before the hairpin.
We're all stoked for the first race!
I'll get some next Wednesday, it was a little dark when We finished.
