Piegon Forge to Deals Gap

Iwas down in Sept 02 its not far from Pf to Deals gap but the
weekend traffic can be all stop & no go in PF or Gatlinburg.
Iwould stay out of both & let the tourists drive into town.

Have Fun

Gatlinberg and Pigeon Forge are a mistake if your going for the riding. Traffic is terrible. Most of the good roads down there are south of the Park anyway. Why not stay in Cherokee or Maggie Valley. Gets you away from a lot of the cagers and the good roads are much closer. It's been awhile since I made the trip from Knoxville to the Gap but I think it's about an hour or so from south Knoxville to the Gap. I have lots of info about roads down there, if you want to e-mail me I'd be glad to share. [email protected]

If I had to choose between staying at Knoxville or the Gatlinburg/PF area, it would be hands down-Knoxville!

Reason? Knoxville is a college town (U of TN), and has a viable bar scene for "hanging out".

Both are roughly the same distance from the "Gap", but I'd still rather stay in Knoxville.

I missed this thread.

Knoxville is probably the better option because of the PF, Gat'brg traffic in the Spring, Summer and Fall.

The Deal's Gap area is in dry counties(no-alocohol for the non-bible belters) which ruins the bar scene. You can however take your own alcohol and make your own party.

The whole tri-states Smokey Mountain region is good.

The ride from Knox. to Deal's Gap is a little less than an hour but is a fun ride itself.

Answers for ??????'s.

1. yes, they have all kinds of go-carts tracks and stuff to do.

2. not really. Not alot of bars. Mostly just restaurants with little bars. Hard Rock and a few other places.

3. about an hour

I will be going up there the end of March, and I will let you know if anything changes. Also if there is a car show ( which they have like every other day that ends in y) traffic is murder. Parking lot on all the roads, so not alot of places to ride.

Knoxville is definitely place to go. But definitely get some orange from somewhere they take the VOLS VEEERRRRRYYYY serious.
