yep, anodizing is a chemical treatment/reaction with aluminum that gives you all those neat-o colors- purple, red, green, blue, yellow, etc... I remember way back to some article on the web where someone was going to try to anodize their frame, but it didn't work very well, I don't remember why, though.....
powder-coating is, I could be wrong, a spray-on, then,"baked-on" type of process that gives the material a tough finish. Seen it on frames, wheels, grille gaurds, tow bars..... Not super-shiny like chrome, but I believe it can be somewhat glossy.
Who does this stuff locally? If I ever have any money, I'd like to have a few pieces powder-coated black.
