1987 Honda Magna

Anyone know much about the 87 Magna? My cousin has one he picked up outta someone's dry storage. Its got under 10k on it and a minor scratch on the tank. Anyways I'm curous on how popular the bike was and how it was to ride. He is up in VA so I cant exactly jump up there and take it for a spin Just curious.

The 87 were the super magna's, they are nice bikes.
They have the v4 engines that are pretty smooth and pretty powerful.

live to ride but ride to ride another day

No problem, there aren't to many people post in here.
I have a bias for the magnas, I ride a 84 V65 magna 1100cc.

I really like the looks of the older bikes, but I also like the newer ones I love the old Cafe' racer style that the magnas kinda resemble. If I had the money I would buy it off my cousin in a heart beat. It just sits in his driveway under a tarp. Its been there so long the tires have rotted. Makes me sad to think about it. Atleast its under a tarp.

Magna

That style Magna was only made for 2 years, 1987 which was a 700cc motor, and 1988 which was a 750. Magna's in general were produced from 1982 to 2003.

Magna 700/750's are pretty quick for cruiser bikes, as they are powered by a slightly detuned version of Honda's 750 Interceptor sportbike V-4 engine.

The 700 should make somewhere near 75 rear-wheel horsepower and run high twelve's in the quarter mile.

I'm trying to convince my cousin to bring it down when he comes this summer. *crossed fingers* Its a geogeous bike and sounds like its got some power for its age. Does it have a decent rider following or is it a lesser known model? He has been thinking about selling it since he never rides it and I'm trying to get a feel on the resale value of it (I might buy it if/when he sells it, its love the way it looks and it would make a good sport cruiser alternative to my 750) NADA and KBB put it at around $900 but I'm guessing thats for one thats been traveled over 10k and has wear. Thanks for the info all. I'm new enough to bikes, let alone bikes that are almost as old as I am

I recall some forums on these in case you or he finds a need. For instance, this comment is one I've seen in more than a few places and might be a good idea if the bike doesn't already have a top-end oiler mod:
