Cool 1987 - 1991 Kawasaki 750r (gpx)

Although I already have a FZ1, I'm thinking of getting a 1987+ Kawasaki Ninja 750R as a second bike, possible collector. This is the model that pre-dates the ZX7 - (the ZX7 I believe came out in 1989).

Anyway, does anyone out there have experieince with this model? Anything good, bad, or indifferent to say about this bike?

Thanks in advance!

Cool

Lars,

I picked the 89 750R (GPX) up this week. So far s good. I've got some cosmetic stuff to fix, and possibly a carb clean.

It feels well planted at 80+ mph - a little heavy for flicking about, but I'll see if I can adapt.

Cool

Yup - mine is the F model - F3 (third year produced). I found a Haynes manual whcih covers the F, and also the ZX6 series. This is actually one of the better Haynes manuals I've seen. Hardcover to boot.

My goal is to get it back to stock. The biggest issue will be repainting part of the belly pan plaastic - scuffs there about the size of you fist. But I've done quite a bit of cosemtic stuff before. I know it will not be perfect - but I think I can get it looking pretty good. New belly pan plastic from the daelr is like $400. Argghh! So its repainting I will go.
