Cobra makes F1 slip-ons, they're $205 + shipping. I want a little more audio but don't want obnoxious. My brother had SuperTrapps on his VFR 750, and I didn't like those at all.

A friend of mine has an Aprilia with race pipes that sounds so very nice. I would like a little more sound and freer breathing.

Anyone ever hear these? Also, I've heard of airbox modifications that will open things up a bit. I suppose it consists of drilling the airbox in strategic places. Any info on that?

you can try pod filters, they increase intake noise a lot.

i doubt they're still made, but i loved the sound of a an old vf700 with a full kerker. check out streetandcomp.com close-outs. they occasionally have cheap pipes for old bikes.

Found a set for my VF1000R at Chaparral-racing.com for $187 plus shipping. Comes to under $200. Bought them, they shipped yesterday. Hope they give the sound I want.

Now I'll look into airbox mods.

I am very pleased with the sound. It brings back memories of the mid '80s when there were lots of V-4 Interceptors on the racetrack.

These slip-ons retain the collector box under the swing-arm, which probably contributes to the mellow sound. My brother had SuperTrapps on his VFR750, and they didn't sound very good. He put the stock pipes back on.

The Cobra F1Rs are shorter, lighter and make a nice rumble without being obnoxious. I think I'm gonna like 'em!
