Question Alpinestar Apex pants

1) I just got a pair of Apex leather pants. I had to go 2 sizes bigger to get them to fit my thigh area around , but now I need 2" of length taken out of the length of the thigh, and the waist is just a hair loose. Is it expensive to have someone tailer leather pants? Can anyone recommend a good place to go in the Seattle/Tacoma area?
2) I have sidi boots, and with the armor in the pants, and my calf size- the boots are tight to zip even when backed all the way out- is it ok to shave some of the armor from the pants for a better fit?

I've had my leather work done by a guy who's part of the Society for Creative Anachronism and it was really good work for a great price. As for the pant leather, if its foam padding I don't see why it would make that much of a difference on your calf

Shoe shops seem to be the only people in my area that have the proper equipment to do leather work.
