Which jacket would you reccomend?

I'm a first time rider getting a 2007 r6 and I live in washington so it gets pretty cold here and the summers get pretty warm so im not sure if I should get the Alpinestar TZ-1 or the alpinestar stage. Theyre both leather. Please help thanks

First time rider getting an R6 huh? ...not such a good idea.
This bike is NOT where you want to start as a beginner.

Thats my advice, take it or leave it,

EDIT: Refer to the thread titled "R6 good beginner bike?" in the "New Riders" section for details...

Check out the post 'fox mentioned and also read the stickies at the top of the New Riders section.

personally, i would chose the stage jacket. more ventilation for the warmer times. i have plenty of long sleeve, windstopper fleece for if it gets cooler.

Regarding the R6 issue, I'm not even going there this time.

As far as the jacket goes, don't you guys get a lot of rain in Washington state as well? Given the rain, and the wide temperature fluctuations you describe, it seems to me you might be better off with something more water resistant, such as a textile jacket- preferably one with a removable liner for those cold days.

I have the Cortech GX Air that has served me very well. It is mesh with leather on the shoulders, elbows, and back. It has two removable liners - one is a waterproof liner that also helps on cool mornings, and the second is a full insulated liner - not just a vest. It is has kept me warm down into the 30's, and since it's mesh, it's comfortable enough for the humid summers in GA. I can't imagine wearing a full leather jacket here in the summer. If you like Alpinestars, you should see if they have something similar.
