Your gear checklist

I first bought riding gear about 2 years ago. Since then, it seems like I'm building up a damn collection.

How much do you own? Do you keep buying more?

I have:

Joe Rocket textile jacket. First jacket, was too cheap to buy leather. Great for wet riding though.
Teknic mesh jacket. For hot weather.
Joe Rocket leather, which is new.

Joe Rocket textile pants.
Joe Rocket perforated leather pants. Just ordered last night.

Two pairs of gloves, one cheap pair of Joe Rocket leather, and a higher quality pair with kevlar and carbon knuckles.

Two pairs of boots, one Joe Rocket, more like a work boot, then a pair of Setup sport/street boots.

Two helmets. One fairly new Shoei, and an old Shoei(for the passengers, of course).

And just ordered an Alpinestars back protector. Required for the track...which I'm doing my first track day in May.

Too much gear....maybe I should sell some of it off! Newenough loves me.

The only gear I've really built a collection of are my helmets. I've only been riding for a few months and I've already got 6 helmets. 2 KBC VR-2's, another KBC ( i forget the name), a Shoei RF-900, and my latest, a Suomy Spec 1R Extreme.

One jacket (textile - Motoline), one pair of pants (textile - Dririder Nordic), two pairs of gloves (cheapies and Dririder Adventure) and one helmet (HJC LT-12).

I'll be looking for some leather gear (jacket / pants / boots) when we come over on the honeymoon.

In God, we trust; all others must provide data.

Joe Rocket textile jacket for quick trips around town.
Joe Rocket textile overpants for wearing to work.
AGV leather jacket
Teknic Lightning 2 piece suit
2 pairs of Olympia gloves (wore the fingers out of one pair)
Pair of Alpinestars GP Pro gloves on the way
3 helmets- Old HJC, AGV Quasar, and my new Shark.
Older Alpinestars boots
New Sidi boots.

That should keep me going for awhile.

Teknic Leather jacket
Teknic Textile touring jacket (14 pockets!)
Joe Rocket pheonix jacket

Teknic leather track pants
Teknic perf. leather track pants
Joe rocket textile stage III pants

Bell something or other helmet
Shoei RF900
Shoei RF1000

Tecnic boots
Oxtar Race boots

First gear something or other gloves
Tecnik chicane gloves
Alpine star gloves

I wasnt much of a believer in gear when I first started out. I always wore a helmet, but rarely secured the strap. The idea of buying an armored jacket didnt hit me till my first sportbike. After it arrived, I put it on, and within 3 blocks got t-boned by a civic. It wasnt fun, and it hurt, but the only parts of me that were hurt were the unprotected ones. I know for a fact my elbow would have been broken if it wasnt for the jacket (there was a very large dent in the hood) and I remember hitting the curb with my back, which couldnt've been good without a back protector. I was sold since that day.

I figure I only have one head, so unless I drop it or go down, one helmet will do for now.

JR Blaster pants
JR Blaster jacket
JR Blaster boots
JR Mercury boots
JR Monterey jacket (perf'd)
JR GPX gloves
HJC CL-14 helmet

I have a pair of Olympia gloves, which are still in good shape -- love the gel palms; very comfy -- but I wanted a pair of gaunlet style. So, I got the JR GPX ones. They are also quite comfy.

I know, a lot of people don't care for JR gear and HJC helmets, but I've been quite satisfied with mine. My JR stuff has worn an worse than my riding buddies' Teknic, A-stars, etc. gear. I think you'd have to go with something like Vanson to see a big difference.

My helmet hasn't seemed overy noisy to me, which is often the biggest complaint with HJC, but I may try a Shoei or Arai the next time I get one. They cost a lot more, but like I said in the beginning: I only have one head. And only one brain in said head. I'd like to keep them both.

I haven't been riding for to long, but I've begun to notice a collecting trend as well.

HJC CL-12
Suomy Spec1R Xaus
cheap Shock gloves (very cheap, very light, but breathe great for the heat of FL)
Cow hide, rabbit fur lined heavy gloves for them cold days
Icon Superduty 2 boots (I wear them every day not just when I ride... of course I ride every day...)
FeildSheer Cargo sport jacket with full pads and removable liner. (Its a cheap jacket but its heavy enough for FL winters and the summers here)

Vash, I was in the same boat with you and gear. I knew helmets were a good idea when I first started riding, but I didn't care past that. I went down once with tennis shoes on and no jacket. I blew out my shoulder from landing on it on the pavement and sprained my ankle because the shoes were to short. I never leave home without full gear now.
