Exhaust.....

Hey guys. I'm thinking of upgrading my OEM exhaust to give it a little flare to the sound. Should I go with a bolt-on or a slip-on? And will I need to upgrade my fuel system to accomodate the extra air? I'd rather not have to upgrade the fuel if I had a choice.

If you go with a slip-on you can probably get away without having to adjust the fuel supply.

If you get a full system then you'll almost definitely have to make changes in the fuel supply.

what bike do you have? carbed or injected? If its just carbed, you can get away with either full or slip-on exhaust. Injected, you won't get much performance out of it unless you get a tuning computer system for it and get it mapped.

If your looking for more performance, get a full exhaust. But, most guys on bikes don't get exhaust just for performance, usually they want a sick sounding bike. More power is just a bonus. Btw, if you have a new bike, slip-on is good since stock headers and pipe are almost the same as a full exhaust system.

If power isnt a concern get a slip on. Much cheaper, and you dont need to adjust the fuel.

If you are going after the extra ponies, a full system is a must. Fuel adjustment is pretty easy. Just get a Power commander and download a new map.

Thanks for all the input people. The bike is fairly new so I don't really want to do anything drastic to it. I'll stick with a slip-on for now and maybe upgrade to a full exhaust later on. Oh and by the way, which brand would give me a decent tone? I'm not looking for anything obnoxiously loud.

I've looked but never came across one. Its probly because every bike is going to sound different and they dont want returns with people saying "It doesn't sound like it did online!"
