I hear the problems w/ the CCT..what is CCT, and what can you do about the problem??

CCT is the Cam Chain Tensioner and CBR 600s are known to have the OEM ones get a little loose and cause a rattling sound from the motor. The solution is to get a replacement manual CCT, instead of the hydraulic OEM one, and install it. Here is a tutorial on how to do it on a F4 but it should be similar for the F3.

I think the tutorial just shows a replacement OEM CCT but you can get a manually adjustable one for cheaper. You can read about the manually adjustable CCT in this FAQ:

Good luck.

Cam Chain Tensioner. I think just about every relatively recent Honda 600 has CCT problems. They told us our 2000 F4 CCT was going bad and needed to be replaced. It was stolen before we could have it done though. Still, I think they design the damn things to crap out just after the warranty is up.

The dealer recommended that we get it changed, but also said it was not a critical thing at the time. I'm sure it doesn't get better with age, but if you just started hearing the noise, then you may have some time to get it done.

Someone else will have to speak to the possible damage that can be done by not fixing it though, because I am not that smart. :)
