What was the claim to fame for this motorcycle company

There is something about the design of this motorcycle that made their products unique for many years.

Name the manufacturer and their claim to fame.

It looks a lot like the 1939 Rudge Ulster, but it isn't...

Here is a hint. This model was an earlier version using the same unique design which made this company famous.

Hi impalass, its not the front brake. If you look at the frame design, what shapes do you see.
